How to get ready for AI in the workplace – Cedefop survey

The Centre for the Development of Vocational Training run its first AI skills survey in spring 2024. As argued in an explanatory note, while recent studies have alleviated fears of massive job destruction that could ensue due to the adoption of AI tools and systems at work, there is still scarce evidence about the actual use of AI tools and applications by European workers and their consequences for workers well-being.

PAPER: Developing professional communication skills: Perceptions and reflections of domestic and international graduates

This paper by Katrine Sonnenschein (BI Norwegian Business School, Trondheim) and Janet Ferguson (University of Queensland, Australia) explores the use and importance of communication skills. As noted, “the literature review explores prominent and current thinking about communications skills inspired by different stakeholders’ narratives of their experiences developing and using communication skills.” According to its abstract, “this study focuses on graduates’ perceptions of their skill in professional communication; its development during their studies; and its value when making the transition to employment. The paper is based on two studies undertaken in Australia with interviews with graduates. The graduates are both of
